DDM post purchase customer service, poor
I purchased a set of HIDs from DDM.
Before I left for Maine, I installed then. before installing them I tested them on a power supply.
The install went smoothly. But while I have been in Maine, using the low beam for the first time, it would not fire up if I shut my LT off and then immediately tried to start it. This happened a few times during which I discovered that if I sat there for 10 or 15 minutes and started her up again, the low beam would com on as yellow light and then glow brighter to full output. Last night it would not come on at all.
I called DDM today to just buy another set of HIDS for $45 plus shipping costs. Taking apart my LT nose to get at the unit, removing it to send it back, re installing the nose cone, running with just the high beam while waiting for a replacement, taking off the nose cone, installing the replacement part and then putting the nose back on--more work than I want to do when I can get two new units for $45 and do all of that only one time.
The problem is that DDM will only ship to my billing address back in Tucson.
However they will send me replacement a replacement parts to me in Maine, charge me for the parts ahead of time, and allow me to return the defective parts and parts not needed and "only" charge me a $20 service fee.
That would allow me to only take my bike apart once. But, I'd rather buy two new units for $45.
DDM is adamant that they will not let me buy new units and have them shipped to me in Maine.
I'm looking for another supplier that will sell me new units and mail them to where I need to use them.
Best from Gorham Maine.
