My CQlight HID lo beam quit

Over the summer I noticed that frequently, the headlight did not come on right away when I turned the key to ON. I'd turn the key back off, wait a second, then back on, the light would come one, and, as usual, go out while the starter was engaged, then the light would come back on.

I had not ridden for a month or so.

On Saturday, I went out for a little putt-putt, and noticed the light was not on. Ever. Turned the bike off, back on, waited, didn't wait, etc. Nuthin'.

I don't think it's a low voltage problem... generally, the headlight will come on with the key on, even if the battery is feeling sluggish. And the battery wasn't particularly sluggish on Saturday -- the starter cranked with enough gusto to start the bike on the first try.

Any suggestions? Any way to diagnose bulb vs. ballast vs. igniter?

(And, I'm trying to remember where I put the standard bulb that came out when Tim and Brian installed the HID kit, but I don't suppose any of y'all can help with that.)

If you look at the map and don't care where you are, you're not lost.

As cheap as hid is now, order another unit for your bike, try the new bulb, if it works fine, if not just replace the whole thing. Go with ddm though, much cheaper than what you have in the bike now. Bulbs are interchangeable.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".
