HID low beam not working too good

Had Xenon HID low beam in it from PO in it when I bought it. Was great, could see way down the rode, and would get occasional flashes from on coming drivers. It went out. Ordered two kits from DDM high & low. Thought I'd cut a fat hog in the a$$ & just put the new bulb in. Nuttin. So, figured the ballast was bad. (still think it is) Installed low beam & took it out for night ride last night anticipation equal or greater results than before. Gasp! Light was bright only about 30 yards down the road. Lots of light in that 30 yards, but really couldn't see squat further than that. Couldn't wait to get back to the house. I had my son who has smaller hands put the bulb in for me. Felt up in there...seemed good. Is it possible that the bulb is upside down & not reflecting properly? No expert here, obviously. It's 35 watt 4500k. And yes, I did the knob job thingy back & forth, no joy. I've done something wrong. Can anyone bail me out on this one. Thanks in advance.

Re: HID low beam not working too good

Have you got the bulb seated properly? I replaced a conventional low-beam bulb on my LT at the roadside in Portugal and managed to mess up. I didn't realise until I did my next after-dark ride and the symptoms were similar to yours.
