piaa lights

I need a copy of a wiring diagram for a set of PIAA lights. I think they are 1100 series.
I got the lights used, but no instructions. Please help me if you can. The lights include the PIAA relay and push button 3 wire switch.

Thanks

Re: piaa lights

Which PIAA do you have? ah.. the 1100...

The PIAA should have come with a relay and switch and fuse.

One wire with a terminal connects to the positive battery terminal. the other wire connects to the ground.

The switch has three wires... one for the light status.. the other for the switch function.. the third is for ground.

The switch energizes the relay...which carries power to the lights.there will be two wires going to each lamp

I have the entire manual for the PIAA 1100X lights. Attached is the page showing the wiring diagram. If you would like me to scan the entire 9 pages, send me an e-mail at [email protected].

Speaking of the 1100X, where's a good place to order replacement bulbs?

And how hard are the bulbs to replace (the fact that I'm asking that question explains why both of my bulbs are out and haven't been replaced, doesn't it!)?

Re: piaa lights

Raffy has some LED bulbs that he sells for the Motolights. These are MR16s. These will also work in the PIAAs if you want to go LED. They are a little pricy, however, but they are rated to last 50,000 hours, so you'll probably never replace them. I dont' know if Raffy has them on his web site yet, but you can check with him.

Re: piaa lights / replacement bulb?

I happened by a local Advance Auto Store the other day, looking for a replacement bulb for my "new" PIAA 1100X which had one bad bulb and found this: 50 WATT MR-16 HALOGEN BULB $6.39. Figured it was worth a try and it looked a little different, but fit. It is not installed yet as I haven't installed the fixtures, but seems to be OK. Actually seems to be brighter than the original! By the way, the part number is A-750.

JM2CW:

I had a HECK OF A TIME removing the lens from my PIAA. I kept trying to separate with a razor blade and inadvertently chipping away at the PIAA lens. I was getting nowhere so, with nothing to lose, I decided to grab a hammer and carefully break the old bulb. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!

Just be careful not to break the PIAA lens.

I then quickly and easily put in the MR16 50W GE halogen I bought at Wally-World for around $6.

I love this site!!!
