HID Relay

I have a Hella 5dv 007 760-47 ballast on my HID light kit. When I turn the key on the head light will flash on and go off. If I turn it on and then get ready to ride ie. stuff the lunch box in the trunk, zip up the jacket, don the headgear, put on the gloves, kick a leg over and sit down. enough time has gone by and when I hit the starter the headlight comes on. However If I try to get going as soon as I get to the bike. The light won't come on and I have to wait and hit the starter again and it will come on. It seems as if it needs warm up time It didn't do this before ie. when it was first installed. I tried to replace the relay and it didn't help. Did I maybe get the wrong relay? Does anyone have a proper part number or an idea of something else it could be?
Thanks
Ray

Sounds like the ballast is going out, this is the weak spot in HID systems where you start and stop them alot. I just replaced four of mine when one started to flicker and have intermittent start problems. Two of them were about five years old and have transferrd them from bike to bike. Opted to go with the DDM slim line ballasts from https://www.ddmtuning.com they are much smaller and work with Canbus.

Re: HID Relay

Sounds like that might be the case. Would switching the ballast from the high beam to the low beam tell for sure? I have both. Would the DDM Slim line be compatible with everything I already have installed?

Yes it should, and yes the DDM ballasts should work with everything you already have.

Re: HID Relay

I've swapped the lines going into the ballast and the problem is solved. Thank you very much brasters and JPSpen for responding. I think the DDM ballast looks great and I really like the small size. These will be on my to do list as soon as the switched ballast quits working. Or as money permits. Once again thanks and I hope I can return the favor or pass it on to someone else in need.
