HID kit from DDM ( install this weekend)!!

Hi all;

I received my low beam kit from DDM for the 2005 LT. I have attached pictures of the wiring from the kit. I have looked at some other posts, and I don't see the same amount of wires on the other kits!! It seems that I have 2 extra wires to the HID bulb area ( red and black ) through the grommet to the plug for the ballast!!

Just wondering if these wires are connected around the plug area??

I have not seen any install pics for a 2005 LT?? Maybe I missed something but have looked for about a month before I took the plunge to purchase the kits!!

I looked under the front and it seems to be TIGHT for my hands under there!! I will try to do this Sunday morning, hopefully it will go smooth!!! I have a good flashlight, tools and lots of coffee!!!

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!!!

Regards,
Bowdon

Bowden, the red and black wires plug into the original bulb connector. I don't know what colour they are on an 05 LT, but on my 03 black went to brown and red to yellow.

Good luck with the install.

That's your power and ground. Plug those into your H7 socket. Black to brown,red to yellow. Everything else plugs together.

Re: HID kit from DDM ( install this weekend)!!

Hi all;

I figured by reading all the posts on the installation of the HID Low Beam, I could try this now!!!

Its now 7:00 PM and started to disconnect the battery. Pulled the plastic cover off and drill the 1" hole ( pic 48), put the wiring in place ( 51 & 52) ) and changed the low beam light. Hooked up the plugs in place, and tied the wiring and ballast in place ( 55 & 56).
Reconnected the battery, and gave a test with the PIAA's on ( pic 57)!!! Time: 8:20 PM
Longest time was trying to ty-wrap the cables and ballast in place ( hands are all cut up!!!)
But what a difference!!!

Based on the pictures and postings on this site, it was easy!!! just a plug-in-place option!!!

This is a 2005 LT.

Thanks, guys!!!
Bowdon.

Re: HID kit from DDM ( install this weekend)!!

Hi guys,

I noticed that the DDM HID kit has the lights connected to the cables and if a light burns out, the whole cable and light has to be changed. This is why they are slightly cheaper then the other kits.

Works well, except for this possible problem later on.

Bowdon

Yes you have to drill the hole in all models of LT to get the wires in the head light

The drilling was the easy part, really the whole installation was quite easy, the only hard part was getting the ty-wraps around the ballast and wiring on the frame under the fairing!!!

Not much room and there is already a lot of wires there. Only complaint is if a bulb burns out you have to change all the wiring harness because it is attached to the bulb. Can't change the bulb only.

But WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! And the pricing was good!!
