2006 320 Xenon light retrofit?

Does anyone know if the new 2006 Xenon light is retro-fittable on the 2005 model? If so, are there any mods needed?

This is just my wild guess:

If you want to retro-fit the complete light assembly, that should go no problems. In fact the housing should be designed for HID bulb and this way your HID installation would be "legal". I have not seen the factory HID, maybe the ballast is integrated in the light housing (like BMW cars).
But you can always go the cheaper (and lillegal) route and purchase just the HID bulb / ballast and do it as dozens of this forum members have done. Of course this takes a bit more DIY (or dealer effort) but the effect in lighting improvement is tremendous.
Personally, I did first the low beam HID and then got tired of the "glowing piece of coal in a bottle" -effect of the stock high beam and modified that a year later.

What ever you choose, get the HIDs and you have done the #1 improvement to your bike.

I requested my dealer last week if this was possible.
There is no part n° listed in their system for this retro fit and the BMW parts responsible person in Brussels said he would check at a higher level, but did not have much hope in it since not in the system and factory mounted option was available for quite a long time when buying new bike.
I will keep you informed soon ( its the Brussels bike show in 2 weeks...)

Thanks! The cycle show is coming to DC in mid January. I might be able to get some info there. If so, I will post.

Hej Raffe,

I have purchased all my HID sets (low beam + hi beam + two Hella Micro DE Xenons) from a Finnish company
http://www.xenonvalot.com/tuotteet_eng.html

The sets are made by Hella. The owner of the company gives excellent service and the ballasts have a two year guarantee. Give him a call and ask for an offer.
