HID conversion kit

Well I got the kit today. I cant believe all the parts that need to come off just to put this bulb in. Looks like I will be spending my Memorial weekend trying to get this done. I was wondering when I would need to take all the panels off , I just bought the bike in March, Then last week I was riding at night and realized the low beam was not working so ordered the HID H7 . Any advise would be apprieciated.

Re: HID conversion kit

You need not remove even one screw, much less the panels. Take a gander at Joe's article with pix, showing the "no tupperware removal" method of installing a low beam HID kit.

Here's a link: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/articles...ticle&artid=16

The article says to drill a 1" hole in the dust cover. Some folks found that a one inch hole was a little too big for the grommet that came with some of the kits. I think I drilled a three-quarter inch hole and it was a perfect fit. You can aways enlarge a hole but you can't put material back, right? The size of the grommets may vary, who knows. Hold up your drill bit next to your grommet and see, or maybe drill a test hole in a piece of scrap material first.

Some of the kits come with a little collar or spacer below the base of the HID bulb. If so, you'll have to remove it first. Here's a link to my earlier post about that: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17903

You will love that HID.
