Hard wiring entertainment system

I am a satisfied owner of a silver K1600GTL. The bike meets or exceeds all my expectations but for one area. I don't want the bluetooth option and I want to retain and use my EAR earplug with built in audio and hard wire it into the system. Has anyone successfully accomplished this fete of magic? Are there any aftermarket options out there?

John,

Check out the K1600GTL/GT forum at:

I'm sure that there has been some discussion about it.

I just pulled this from the K1600 forum

the Mix-It works great & you can add your radar. cel phone & other audio devices to it. I plan on getting one soon. Right now I'm using an Autocom noise suppressor to reduce "Whine" & to run 2 cords (front & rear). Then it goes to my Scala G4 so I can control volume from it.

Here is the color codes for the speaker wires

Left speaker
yellow / Black stripe +
Yellow / red stripe -

Right speaker
Blue / Black stripe + (mine was solid blue no stripe but dealer manual shows a stripe)
Blue / red stripe -

Here are some pics

Re: Hard wiring entertainment system

Just my .02 from experience, or lack there of......

Be careful using the "Posi-Tap connectors. I'm sure that it's me, but I've had some difficulty getting a good connection in the past. I was sure to make sure that the sizes were correct, but still had some non-connections and wasted too much time thinking that I had wired up the wrong wires.

Next time I'll check the resistance after my connection to make sure that it is solid and tight.

AND I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS THREAD IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE "MOST RECENT THREADS."

Thanks for the information. It';s great guidance and advice. I would really like to go for that ride tomorrow but I'll be heading to the airport tomorrow morning. Are these planned rides on a weekly or monthly basis or impromptu. I may be reaching out for more advice later if that's OK.

Joel we try to do a RTE every month some where in Texas. Just keep an eye on the SOUTH CENTRAL FORUM for updates.
Also check out the HILL COUNTRY BMW RIDERS . We get together every SATURDAY for either breakfast or lunch with a guided ride afterwards. The HCBMWR's are a great bunch of guy & gals.

Thumbs up Re: Hard wiring entertainment system

I guess if you don't want Blue Tooth, you don't want it? But I added a 3.5mm stereo jack ($3.95 ea.) mounted in the side of my helmet in parallel with the existing Blue Tooth speakers so my wife and I can simply plug our Big Ear audio ear plugs into the side of our helmets and have wireless entertainment and Intercom to the ear plugs. If one of us forgets our ear plugs we can both just use the speakers that come with the BMW Blue Tooth system. One of the great features of the BMW Blue Tooth system is that my wife can ride her bike and I can ride mine and we can talk to each other as long as we are within 100 feet of each other. Its also very handy when dismounted from the bike. Walking around and being able to talk to each other at gas stop while I'm filling the bike she can be inside the mini mart and ask me if I want something?.
