RT Trunk on 1600GT

I'm thinking (like many people on this forum I am sure) about trading my current ride ('09 R1200RT) for a 1600GT - for no particular reason. It wouldn't necessarily put me over the edge but I read somewhere that the RT trunk will mount on the 1600GT rack which would be a nice savings. Has any one been able to confirm that?

Yep the same Top Case that fits the RT & Early GT (K12 ,K13) will fit on the K16GT but not the GTL

Re: RT Trunk on 1600GT

I saw a dealer take an RT trunk and snap it on a new GT with no problem

I thought it looked really good.

I had read the same thing you did, so I asked him...initially he thought no but then said "let's see" and grabbed the RT trunk.

Re: RT Trunk on 1600GT

I use the 28l box on my GT and it works great. I've also seen the 28l used on the GTL.

Re: RT Trunk on 1600GT

I had originally ordered my GT with the color matching top case at nearly $1,600 and later dropped it from my order. I'm liking the 49l hard case or even the soft case for the cost delta on that one. Heck, you can go get a pretty snappy paint job on that 49l case and come out a lot cheaper.

Me too ..... by me

I have the GT top case rack, though, because it is approx. 3 cm shorter than the GTL rack.
