k1600gt First Ride Impressions

I picked up my K1600 GT last night (a sort of birthday present). My first impressions:
Likes:
The headlights are fantastic. The bright setting allows great vision down both road shoulders. Adaptive lighting is great in the curves.
The bike is a quantum leap ahead of any previous BMW touring platform in terms of performance and handling. Torque is everywhere in every gear.
Two up accomodations are very good. Lots of room for a tall passenger. My daughter is 6' 1".
The bikes version of I-Drive is very easy to use and alot more intuitive than the system on the car.

Gear shifting is very smooth. Not as good as the Japanese but BMW's best effort so far.

Dislikes:

The instrumentation is too low on the dashboard to see without taking your eyes off the road. All other BMW's I have had allowed me to see what is going on out of the corner of my eye.

BMW still doesn't seem to have licked the variable throttle response problems that are a carryover from the K1300GT. I was a little disappointed that when I was driving slow or down shifting that the throttle response would be jerky. It felt just like my k13.

The seats are still made out of wood.

Down shifting would cause a slight vibration before the gears engaged. I will have to get this checked out at my 1000 k initial service.

Conclusion:

Good far outweighs the bad. Love the bike and would buy it again in a second.

You mean vibrations in the clutch handle? You may be feeling the effect of the slipper (anti hop, or whatever you call it) clutch...

I think you guys down under pay as much as we do (NL) and these bikes are built practically next door.
