K1600GT What should I expect to pay

Hi all;

I have a 2011 R1200RT with all the bells and whistles. Listed out at $21K+ when I bought it earlier this year. The bike has only 1700 miles. I have been thinking about trading up to a K1600GT... The question is.. what kind of a deal should I be looking for here?? Are the dealers discounting the new K bikes.. Some have a few out there as standing inventory... I am also assuming that the GT would be a better deal than the GTL these days.. I would appreciate any insights/coaching from the rank and file!!

Thanks,

Joel

No special deals or discounts in good old blighty , the book price is what you pay , you might get a decent second hand price for your p/e if you shop around .

I traded my loaded 2011 RT on Friday for a new K1600GT. I paid retail for the GT but they gave me 17k for my RT which I though was good money. I didn't buy the RT new so it was a good deal for me.

Hmmm... Thanks for the information.. good data point... On my RT, the dealer was talking like $16K which to me is out of line with basically zero off the GT. BTW, how do you like the GT versus the RT?

Thanks!!

Joel:

The lowball for my RT was from Gina's in Iowa at $15,500 and the highest was 17k. St. Louis was $16,000. Depending on the mileage of your RT (assuming it is loaded), it might be worth a little more than 17k since is has the more expensive color scheme.

I've only done 750 miles on the GT so I am still learing how to ride it. It handles suprisingly well. The windshield is a keeper. Not sure aobut the seat yet but it is no less comfortable than the RT seat. The engine is obviously what makes this bike and the new electronic gizmos are only a bonus. I think I am really going to like it. It has a lot of positives over the RT but also some negatives (i.e. price, gas mileage).
