Cool how does this Oz $ equate to USA $ for GTL

ok...how does this work then....

The Oz $$ is around $US1.03...hmmmm that's good yeah if wanting to buy US stuff???

Sooooo how much is a GTL in USA land??? just reading a thread there, someone picked up a used GTL 3k miles on it for $US25k...

I phoned up the BMW dealer here in Sydney yesterday asking a price for the GTL .....at $39,600 Oz... so working back to the dollar equivilants ....that $39,600 Oz is about $US40,788....does that sound about right for a GTL there???

The dealer hasn't anything to compare against Beryl's high kms for a trade in price(198,000kms...isn't that "just run in" type talk??)

Enquiring mind would like to know....JIC.....depending upon new job prospects...depending upon Beryl Beemer trade in....depending upon blah blah.....

cheers

Re: how does this Oz $ equate to USA $ for GTL

I hate to be the bearer o bad news, BUT the OZ$ is now trading (actual trade Quote) @ $1.01...on $250000AUD you would only get another $250US.
And the OZ $ is sinking fast just like the CDN $ against the US.

Phill my NEW GTL was $28,500.00 with all taxes here in Texas. Taxes very from state to state but the base price is all the same.

BMW sets the price structure in each country. They are not necessarily the same after adjusting for currency fluctuations. I've never seen a good explanation as to why they're not the same or exactly how they're set.

Being from the north country, and from having seen the fingers held up more than once, the explanation is quite simple; in small markets such as this, most importers plan on flying a little extra profit under the smoke screen of "currency exchange." It is seen here in many many products from agricultural parts to motorcycles. In Canada we are able to cross border shop in many cases, but BMW stops it by means of disallowing warranty claims and serious threats to dealers. I called Max for a quote prior to purchase here and they would not even talk about it, third party or any other means. The problem "down under" is that you are far from a larger market. It is a great bike, but I hate to pay more.

G'day Brian,
The post from "Katnappin" at $US28,500 in Texas, plus "Jetsboats" at $US26,000 again in Texas..??? $US2500 difference??? be worth while phoning up every BMW dealer around the states if that were the case....

What a PITA for you Canucks not being allowed to buy across passport control...

BUT an extra $US/Oz 12,000 difference between price of GTL in Oz compared to Texas price...that's some profit feathering...hmmmmmm maybe I could buy bike in USA and ride it back to Sydney??

cheers

Re: how does this Oz $ equate to USA $ for GTL

Hey see you had a 1999LT, great bike, I had one as well. When I bought it new in April it was less money than a Harley Ultra Classic. It seems now that the GTL is a bit more than the Harley, though I did not seriously compare. The GTL is so much more bike. With the top case off the GTL will really rock!

Re: how does this Oz $ equate to USA $ for GTL

While the Oz price premium on the bike includes 10% GST plus the 3% most states charge, it's still significantly more.

On the plus side, the prices for add-on and extras have started to come down. For example, earlier in the year a GT Top box was priced at A$2350 and at US$1550. When I ordered one for my GT with GST it was about A$1650. In fact, for the first time in my experience all the bits I ordered with the bike were within 5-10% of places like Sierra BMW in the US.

I'll clear this up for you... $26,000.00 is BEFORE Tax, Title & Licenses
