K1600gtl...how Much?

I don't think I'll be chopping my K1200LT any time soon.
While the GTL is pretty damn nice, I got a quote for £20,400 for fully specced up example of the new bike.
At todays exchange rate, that's $32,000. I'm amazed they are selling any at that price.

Just FYI..... listed price in the US for a K1600GTL with the premium package, i.e. all the factory options, but w/o add-on accessories like cylinder guards (not yet available any way) or a GPS, etc....is $26,340.

I know it looks terrible but you need to factor inflation into your equation. Bread doesn't cost .50 anymore either.

My top of the line 1994 K1100LT listed for just under 18,000 when it was new in 1994. That was a lot of money too but a lot of folks bought them. By the way, the 1999 K1200LT was really expensive pushing 20,000 if I remember correctly. I thought at the time 'nobody is going to buy this VW Beetle without the doors' but look how well that sold over the years. Anyway, back on track, In 'today's' money that new 1994 K1100LT was 27,600 according to my Palm Inflation Calculator. Look how much more 'stuff' is on the K1600GTL for less money!

Just trying to get you guys to think differently is all.

By the way I used the same calculator to determine what the purchase price for my new to me (used) K1200GT was compared to the price I paid for the K1100LT back in 1997; I determined that the 1200GT was a rediculous bargain and bought it.

Edit: Oh and one more thing...since the new GTL is a great bargain for what you get, YOU, yes YOU, need to go buy one! I need a lot of them out there so I can buy one someday when the GTL II comes out!

regards,
Dan

Re: K1600gtl...how Much?

I cringe when I think of paying insurance for a $28K mc. The excise tax would probably take my breath away?

In two or three years, once the bugs are kowen, I'll take a look at it again.

In the mean time, hope you love ur new one to the point where you hate to go back home.

Mine went up only $40 a year from my K1200GT that I only paid $18k for.
