Question Questions, questions, questions...

I thought it might be a good idea to collect questions about the two new bikes. I'm not talking about subjective things like how the ride feels vs. LT/GT, or which bikes looks better. I'm suggesting questions that can be answered by BMW today. For instance:

1. What are the different trim levels (can the GTL have chrome or black trims)?
2. What is the design of this bike- to replace both the LT and GT? If not, will there be another LT?
3. Is this bike's target market the luxury tourer or the sport tourers?
4. What is the release date (when it can be seen/ purchased in Dealerships)?
5. MSRP?
6. Will there be an alternator upgrade?
7. Can the adaptive headlight be 'turn off' if you want it to work like a regular headlight?
8. Who can we shoot for making the ghastly rear/top case? Bangle? (Just kidding!)
9. What are the precise differences between the GT and GTL - not from a marketing standpoint. (other than those noted on the spec sheet)
10. Will there be smaller pannier bags offered? Larger windshields?

I'm talking about those kinds of questions.

I know many questions are scattered throughout the board and I guess they could be collected here. I was just trying to circumvent that tedious process... although some of the additional verbiage is good to read.

Re: Questions, questions, questions...

1. What are the different trim levels (can the GTL have chrome or black trims)? Chrome. UGH!!!!
2. What is the design of this bike- to replace both the LT and GT? If not, will there be another LT? Likely Yes, and Probably Not.
3. Is this bike's target market the luxury tourer or the sport tourers? Yes
4. What is the release date (when it can be seen/ purchased in Dealerships)? Real soon now.
5. MSRP? Lots.
6. Will there be an alternator upgrade? Yes - Solar Powered.
7. Can the adaptive headlight be 'turn off' if you want it to work like a regular headlight? Yes. You can also turn off ABS, Traction Control, and Anti-Dive with the included Remote Control.
8. Who can we shoot for making the ghastly rear/top case? Bangle? (Just kidding!)
9. What are the precise differences between the GT and GTL - not from a marketing standpoint. (other than those noted on the spec sheet) One's Really Fast, and the other UnGodly Fast.
10. Will there be smaller pannier bags offered? Larger windshields? No but I understand that Larger bags and Smaller Windshields will be offered.

Re: Questions, questions, questions...

The warranty in the US is usually 3 years or 36,000 miles. In Canada, 3 years unlimited miles. In Europe it's usually 2 years.

Re: Questions, questions, questions...

My only question is just how sweet that six will sound with the Akrapovics mounted, I like stealth but may have to make an exception on this one.

Re: Questions, questions, questions...

I've got an Akrapovic on my 800GS and it's sweet with the sound baffle out, yet not loud.. The 6 will sound fantastic with Akra's.. but my wallet will be much lighter.

Facebook chat with K1600 Product Manager

Not sure if anyone was on the Facebook chat with the K 1600 Product Manager earlier today but he did address a few questions.
1. The price will be comparable to the current LT
2. The K1600 replaces the LT and GT models.
3. The K1600 is not marketed towards the GoldWing but rather more of the Honda STX (Pan European)
4. There are no other bikes planned for the 1600 engine platform (not sure if he meant 'ever' on that one)
5. Release date is in May in the states - possibly earlier in Europe
6. No center stand because of weight

No one asked about the alternator concerns, unfortunately.

Re: Questions, questions, questions...

Of course it has a center-stand; what it does not have is a hydraulic center-stand like the LT has, due to weight as described in the interview.

Travis, where did you see them discuss the May release date in the US? I didn't see it mentioned in the Facebook transcript.
