confused on communication

I see there are tons of threads on this, but I just seem to get more confused after I have read them
what I would like to do is hook an ipod nano to the bike
I want to be able to communicate with my wife, with both of us able to listen to the music (from the ipod) and get directions from the Nav5 (fine if only 1 can hear this)
my phone will not be hooked up

will a sena 20 or cardo packtalk bold work for what I want?
thanks

I have a Sena 20S and it will do all that you want. I don't do phone calls when I'm on the road, but I do like the directions from the GPS. You can communicate with up to 8 people with the 20S, I think.

Re: confused on communication

May be too late but I've also been able to get the RT to work fairly well (but not quite perfectly) with the Sena SMH10s my GF and I use but it took a few tries. I paired my headset with the bike's audio system, on the headset I used the "pair to phone" for the link to the bike. I'm not currently using my phone to take calls on the bike. The GPS overrides the other traffic so I get the instructions when the GPS thinks I need to know something. My favorite being the GPS voice comes on as says "in 4 miles stay on the road you are on".

Once I figured out the somewhat strange set-up on the Senas (you can only share music while you have an intercom link active, took a while to find that in the manual) then how to set both headsets to VOX everything works really well, we can jabber away at each other or shut up and the music comes on, radio, Sirius or from the old phone I keep in the right fairing pocket as a music source. The only fly in my current ointment is, sometimes, the bluetooth link from the bike to my helmet doesn't work well, noise and dropouts, then will work perfectly when I force it to rebuild the link. I'd love to hear from somebody who can explain that and, even better, how to fix it.

does the music get quieter when you are talking with your passenger?

Re: confused on communication

With the Senas I use (and I think any brand) the music stops when we are talking. Note that is 100% stops, not reduced volume. After we are quite for a short period the music comes back on.
