What model 1600 has lowest passenger seat?

2006 LT owner here possibly interested in new bike. My wife loves the LT ride but we tested a GTL Exclusive and she was unhappy with the seat height. It was too high and her head was buffeted by the wind. I was told the GT had a lower rear seat. I know I can buy a higher windshield but wanted to know if there were any difference in the models with respect to rear seat height. Any information would be appreciated.

Re: What model 1600 has lowest passenger seat?

GT & GTL both have about the same passenger seat height.

It might be slightly lower on a K1600B or Grand America, which have more cruiser style ergonomics.

Like most Beemers, the K16's stock windshield kinda sucks. A proper windshield will go a long way towards rider and passenger comfort.

I'm happy with my AeroFlow screen. Others like Cee Bailey's but they no longer make motorcycle windscreens.

There's also Puig and 7Jurock. I haven't run either of those so I can't really comment, but a search of this site for windshield or windscreen will give you some useful results.

Whatever screen you end up with, the AeroFlow AeroWings and Mini Wings nicely increase the smooth air bubble around the sides, again leading to significantly better rider and passenger comfort.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

The lowest pillion seat would be the Grand America; it's 2.75" lower than the GTL

Re: What model 1600 has lowest passenger seat?

I should have been more clear.
I know the GA has the lowest seat.
What I meant was, is there any difference between the rear seat height between the GT and GTL.

The wings and mini wings were the big game changer for me, and my pillion. I actually went back to OEM GTL Screen along with the wings.

No matter what - she moans to this day about missing the LT!

Everything must have some trade-off, right?

BTW, we have a custom seat on the GTL, and per her request her height was lowered about 2", which made a difference.

Which seat maker did you use? I wasn't sure if the GTL frame would allow that much height reduction on a GTL.

My wife and I test rode a Wing DCT Tour recently and overall were not impressed. The wife liked the seat height and wind protection, very much like our LT, but the bike felt small, her seat was hard as a rock and the grab handles were not useable. She said she would choose a GTL over the wing, but still likes the LT best. Next up is a Grand America. Even though I am not enthralled with its styling, and definitely not the color choices this year, it looks like it might be the best LT successor. Looking forward to riding one.

My seat was made by a guy that USED to do a great job. I say that because Rick Mayer is out of business now. I don't see why any of the seat guys couldn't lower the pilion in a similar fashion.
