Seats can bring up about as many different opinions as tires and oil.

I have a 2013 GTL with 43,000 miles. I put on a Sargent seat with a backrest which has worked pretty well for me.

First I tried a Corbin dual touring seat and the backrest was about an inch and a half too far back to work for me. I have a local seat guy work on it for me, but we could not make it comfortable for my needs.

The backrest on the Sargent has more adjustment then the Corbin, so all is well.

I do use an Air Hawk also with the Sargent and 200 miles between stops is still pretty comfortable.

The Sargent work well enough, I put one on my 17 RT.

Re: After Market Saddle for GTL

I had a Russell Day Long on my LT and put one on my GTLE after I got it and my butt told me no more long rides on the stock seat. There is a lot of discussion about aftermarket seats on this forum's sister site, the BMW K1600 Forum. Pretty much, anyone that has had a RDL raves about them. The only ones that don't tend to be the ones that got their's second hand. Since they are custom built for the specific customer, mine may not work as well for someone that is a different height, weight, inseam, etc. Here's a picture of my RDL.

Hi John,

I've used several custom saddles on my Beemers over the years.

You have the replacements seats (Sargent, Corbin) that come complete, and you just swap out.

Or you have custom saddlemakers (Russell, Rich's, Laam) that rebuild your stock seat by removing foam and rebuilding everything.

In my experience, Russell beats them all, hands down.

Aslo, you might find more imformation, and more lively discussion over at the K1600forum.com.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
