2014 GT vs newer?
Looking for some experience based advice -
I've been MIA for a few years but decided to go to a nearby new dealer and see what's available. On the floor is a 2014GT that's part of the inventory from Blue Moon Cycles. I went in looking for a current model, but of course they're offering a deal to move this bike. So my questions are:
- Are there any issues with the 2014 model year that would make me take a pass? Seems like most of what I've found in the way of controls failing, etc were resolved by then.
- Between the GT and GTL, I like the position of the GT but am not sure if that would hold for a 4000mi trip. If you do long tours with the GT, what's your experience like after the first few days?
- I know there is a reverse on the 2017s and I definitely liked that feature on the LT, but I don't think it's worth too much of a premium.
- This GT has the luxury package and that seems more than enough for me. It doesn't have the shift assist, which is another option that seems I would really appreciate over time. But again, for those who have it, is it really a big deal?
The only missing essentials I would add are: engine guard, Softbag 3 to make up for the top case, and I will probably add the GPS too.
Feel free to weigh in on any of my ramblings, I appreciate your advice.
