question about optional topcase brake light >

Excuse me in advance. I'm a new owner and will have a few questions from time to time. I purchased the optional topcase for the K1600GT... the one which came painted to match the bike. I had the optional brake light kit installed. Question is.... does this light also serve as a tail light? or just a brake light. As of now I only see the brake light... just want to make sure it is working correctly. Thanks.

Re: question about optional topcase brake light >

Looks like it is a brake light only.

Correct. It's a brake light only. It can be set up as a tail light/brake light but would require a separate controller like something from Skene Design.

I have the same top-box and aux. brake light on my RT. It is quite easy to turn that into tail/brake light, but as mentioned, you will need to add a controller. This is the one that you want to look at, from Skene: Skene Design Motorcycle Visibility Lights

OTOH, if you are thinking of adding Clearwater's aux. LED lights at all, you should know that the Canopenner controller will give you the brake/tail light option aithout having to buy anything else! The nice thing about both controller mentioned is that they both can be programmed so that your brake light can blink in several selectable modes!
