Water pump leak on 2014 GTL

Hi all

I have read a lot of threads on the leaky water pumps. I noticed after 6k miles there are some blue spots on the heat shield.

Had anyone else had this issue on a 2014 model?

Is there a permanent fix for this? I read some have had theirs replaced 4 and 5 times on a 2012 model.

Do we know what what is the root cause?

The water pump issue has pretty much been solved, but it can still occur on rare occasions.

Fortunately, it's not immediately critical, and the bike can still be ridden just fine.

It's most likely just a weak seal, or a buildup of machining tolerance errors.

Just ride in to your dealer at your convenience, and let them swap the water pump out for a new one.

Might want to take some pics if you can't get the bike in right away, just for the record.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Took some pics of the leak today. Appears to be coming out of the weep hole.

Re: Water pump leak on 2014 GTL

There have been some post on the K1600 Forum where owners were told by their dealers to not worry about a few drops coming out. In most cases the pumps stopped leaking by there selves. A few had to be replaced. Just to be save have your dealer make the call on that.
