Knock off luggage rack being sold on Ebay

I was looking on ebay, and notice someone is selling a knock off luggage rack for the top case for $129.00. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks

Re: Knock off luggage rack being sold on Ebay

I'm not sure why you are calling a $129 rack a knockoff !?!? I paid less then that for mine & it came with a matching top case bag.
Please post a link to the one you are looking at.

I didn't post a link, because I didn't want it to appear that I was somehow promoting someone or something they are selling on Ebay. I simply was asking if anyone one here had any experience with these racks. I guess not.

It is almost impossible to give you a answer when we have no clue what rack you were looking at. When I did a quick search on Ebay I did not even see that rack.
That being said the one in the Link you provided looks similar to the Wunderlich rack. I see no reason why it would not work just fine as long as you add these washers so the legs of the rack do do punch through the top case.

Washers.

Thanks for the link.
Looks a bit shaky to me, chrome may peel in a few months. Not much info given on the product. I'd stay clear.

Re: Knock off luggage rack being sold on Ebay

I've looked at that clear top rack from Isotta (?); doesn't look bad and needs no drilling. I have heard that there have been some leaking top cases after the Wunderlich top case racks have been installed; was this due to incorrect installation? Incorrect washers?

Soooooooooooooo, I am still in a quandary as to which top case rack we should go with

I've rode in some heavy rain on more then one occasion and have never had any problem with water leaks.

Thanks; what bag would you go with for the top case that would be water-proof?

Any one of the many Dry Bags out there will work. Just do NOT get a large one. You need to keep the weight to about 15 to 20 pounds max for safety. I have a Honda rack with matching bag. The Bag comes with a rain cover the hides in a outside packet till needed. I've used it many times in the rain & it keeps everything dry.

We mainly used the top case bag/rack on the LT for liners or anything else that was light in nature. Those are good-looking bags for $ 63.00 for the medium.

The Wunderlich top case rack may be the way to go.

Thanks
