Top Five Accessories For Your GT/L???

Don't have the 2012 I'm interested in yet, but wondered what current owners would recommend for immediate accessories.
Funds For Farkels will be limited at first so wondered what you think are immediate useful accessories.
Thanks a bunch.

An upgraded seat was one of the most important for me

I'd went with the engine guard as well as with the side protection. There is a thread on the K1600 forum that some one has an alternative design for the side protection. I've got one an I'm completely satisfied.

I added after market side protection (C4), but have mixed feelings about it. One of the really great features of the K1600 is the ability to VERY quickly remove or add back the side-bags and top-case. It was something lacking on the LT that I had wished for....

The side protection is semi-permanent, so if you decide to go from a cruiser to a sports bike, and remove the top and side cases, you will still have the side protection sticking out.

Re: Top Five Accessories For Your GT/L???

I have said this before, but I'll repeat it. The K1600 STOCK, has just about everything I wanted or added to my LT.

I did add a few things that, for the most part, were just nice to have, but three things are very important. 1. Engine protection and 2. improved horn. I'd love to hear the BMW engineer justify the horn that was specked for the K1600. Some because of their physiology, need an improved seat, but my seat is stock so it seems to fit. I do use an Airhawk/beads/sheepskin from time to time to just make it feel different.

I also 3. replaced my windshield with a Sci-Cal because it greatly reduced the back pressure.

Re: Top Five Accessories For Your GT/L???

Given the lack of protection, I'd immediately get engine bars.

And then I'd recommend that you do nothing but ride. Get a good thousand miles on it and see what you think it needs. I needed a seat (GT on my GTL) and a windshield (Aeroflow GT). I also added highway pegs. That's it.

Thanks for your input. Looks like the protection bars will be number 1 on the list.
Part of the deal includes the GPS Nav 5 with the newer holding bracket, so that one is taken care of.

Oh yeah, the horn I replaced mine with a Stebel air horn.

Well I got a Hannigan trike conversion kit. Now it never falls down, so I don't need the tip over bars. I did get a bigger windscreen to please a passenger. Looking not highway pegs.
