Low seat problem

I like having the low seat on my 13 GTL, but even after a custom seat rebuild I found myself moving around on the seat looking for that comfort spot. I later sat on an airhawk (which raised the seat an inch or so) and found that it was the distance to the foot pegs that was causing my problem.

Looking for advice.... should I have the new custom seat raised or the pegs lowered. Some say the pegs drag when lowered, so I am not sure what to do.

Also anything available similar to the Mick O Pegs that may be available for the GTL.

Thanks for any advice.

Re: Low seat problem

Lowering the pegs will cause them to drag a lot in corners. I used an AirHawk for over 25K miles till I could get the seat rebuilt & I had it raised about 1 inch. Wish I had done the seat earlier.

Re: Low seat problem

Gents - this is a huge factor for me as well. I currently ride a GS because of the seat to peg distance. That longish distance allows my legs to stretch and take some of the pressure off my low back.

I am contemplating trading up to a K1600GTL but think I may need to have the seat built up at least 1.5 inches. Is that even possible? Would it take me so far up off the ground that I'd not be able to reach the ground? I'm 5'8" and have a 30" inseam.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Chris,

If you had the Airhawk up an inch, that might really be way too high. When it's inflated, it shouldn't raise you up very much or you will be sliding around on the seat. It just takes up space with a slight cushion. I think! That is how I use mine. I was sitting on my beads today and after several hours, they started to become uncomfortable. I went back to my sheepskin and then my Airhawk. If your legs hit the ground OK, my guess is that you need a seat that is raised up about an inch. I lowered my pegs with the Suburban kit, but they do drag the ground from time to time. My boots too.
