Question Squeaks

On a ride over Beartooth Pass my front
End started squeaking when I went over
Bumps. My dealer's service person had not
Heard of this and suggested using silicon spray
On ball joint.

I am off on long ride next week, so I thought
I would see if anyone else has seen this problem.

Bike ran great thru the mountains .

Re: Squeaks

What year is the bike? I've heard that this was a problem on early production dates. This is a known problem, so don't buy the dealer's "I've never heard of this" line.... I have a '13 GTL, and haven't had the issue. Guys have solved it with silicone spray (and others, read up below).

Re: Squeaks

My Preorder bike (#32) has squeaked since about the 5000 mile mark. I liberal shot of WD40 or similar lube will stop the squeak. Mine if fine till I ride in a hard rain storm then it starts again. I just spray it down again & it stops till the next rain I ride in. The Dealers all should know about it & many have replaced the shock under warranty. The down side is BMW has not made any changes to the shock to prevent the squeak so even after a new shock is installed the squeak can come back.
