Radio volume drops

Hi everyone,

I am living in Sweden and just bought my first K1200LT '04 model (europe).
After reading many threads and trying to find something about the problem I have, I finally decided to ask the forum.

On my bike the radio plays just fine, but from time to time (can be half a minute or sometimes 15 minutes) the audio volume drops to a lower level and then after a while goes up again to he set volume. Is this a broken amplifier or what experience / suggestion do you have?

Regards
Christian

Re: Radio volume drops

What type of comm system do you have installed?

On the Voice II system there is a variable volume setting that is dependent on speed (see owners manual). That function raises the volume with speed and drops it when you slow down.

One other thing that comes to mind is whether the comm is getting a "send" input and is muting the sound for a moment.

Re: Radio volume drops

No com system. Only factory radio/CD.
The problem occurs even when driving with the cruise control. So it is not the speed related volume setting.

I have heard about speakers not working etc. But it seems they are all playing, just at a much lower volume suddenly. After a short while the prior volume is back again.

Re: Radio volume drops

My '09 does this same thing. I have checked the antenna and found no corrosion. Radio while playing the music from my iphone to Aux jack doesn't have this drop out occur.

Re: Radio volume drops

Sorry to hear you have the same problem... But it seems I am not the only one then.

If the speed signal is the fault, then I Think other things like Cruise Control and speedometer should be having issues as well.

Scratching my head.
