Mounting the High Beam on an older LT

I see the newer LT's and they seem to make good use of the useless air vents below the headlamp on my 99 LT. Has anyone tried to upgrade an older LT to a newer style headlamp? I'm not terribly worried about replacing the old main headlamp, I simply wanted to supplement it with the high beam from a newer model. Anyone?

Is this the factory lamp, or does this guy have an aftermarket thing going on? Any ideas?

Re: Mounting the High Beam on an older LT

If you are referring to the thin lamp housing with the two lit bulbs on each side just above the fender, this is the standard look of the 2005 and up LT's. That is the Hi Beam headlamp.

The light under the mirror is an aftermarket mount and aftermarket light.

That pic resembles Dave Kinsey's scoot, from down in Santa Fe.
To answer your question, I don't recall any mention of adapting a split-niche headlight assembly to an older model single niche bike. Prolly could be done, butt with a max-ghetto mod!! Might be easier to replace the entire nose cone assembly.

+1, they show up on flea-bay from time to time at reasonably cheap prices, the headlamps on the other hand are usually more expensive. Have you considered PIAA or Clearwater lights? It might be cheaper to go one of those routes in the long run, and you might get better light output. I have not tried either on my LT, however my R1200C has a set of PIAA lamps attached to the high beam (factory installed, so they may be a little different than the ones PIAA sells on the market - but look the same), and those are bright as daylight when they come on. Just a thought.
