Throttle Cable Update

I noticed there are two part numbers in the part numbers page for the Throttle cable replacement, but the second number dies not show up as a good number on any BMW parts fische online. Anyone have the current correct part numbers for the upgraded throttle cables?

Re: Throttle Cable Update

Retro kit, is that one of those 3 part numbers you listed or another part number?

That cover mod looks easy, and is certianly a lot cheaper than buying a 2005 cover. BMW plastic must have gold and silver inside it at their prices.

Re: Throttle Cable Update

Tim,

You would think so at what they want for a lower cover, around 98.00 green backs. Ouch. Might be platinum ?

c) Twist Grip Mod Kit: 32727691990

Re: Throttle Cable Update

It's easy to mod the plastic handlebar cover with a dremel tool.

Re: Throttle Cable Update

Perfect! ordered all three numbers and the Illinois BMW dealer told me all is in stock and ready to ship, so I will have them in a few days!

My cables are fine, but because the bike is apart for service, why not just do it now.

Re: Throttle Cable Update

Some of BMW's dealer documentation talk about lubricating the new cables with a dry lube before installation.

What is everyone using for this? I have a dupont Dry teflon lubrication product that is used at Yamaha Dealerships for new cables. I assume the BMW cables have a teflon liner and therefore are OK with a dry teflon lube that will help to keep moisture out of the braided cable.

I would not lube at flown lined cable. Nothing to gain and everything to lose if the lube carrier solvent damages the liner.
