Post Selling the LT...

After 7 years I am selling the 05 LT with 80 k miles on the odo...
This was my 3rd LT (99 Canyon Red, 2003 Silver, and 05 Dark graphite) and I enjoyed the ride very much and learned a great deal about maintenance and repairs.
I just bought a 2011 RT that is better suited for my new commute (Los Angeles busy streets) and I guess after 11 years riding an LT it was time for a change.
I will be posting the bike in the classified as well as parts and accessories I have gathered through the LT years so I can splurge on RT stuff!
Of course I now have to learn maintenance on the RT...

06 Mercedes-Benz E350 Estate (parts and people hauler)
2012 BMW X3 (parts and people hauler)
86 Porsche 911 Cabriolet (my "new" baby)

For her I climbed the highest mountain!
For her I swam across the deepest ocean!
For her I walked through the largest desert!
And then she left me... She said I was never home!!!

Great news Gilles. The RT is way easier to maintain and just as much fun to ride.

We did go to Cambria a week ago in anticipation of the ride in June that we won't be able to attend...
I just got the RT on Friday and the first mod was for Kathy; I installed a passenger Suburban Machinery peg lowering kit. The very next thing I installed were grip puppies. I now feel accomplished!

Just glue 40 sq ft of plastic around it, it'll seem just like working on the LT

Did you consider any other bikes? Like the K1600? or even something other than BMW? Just curious.

Yes Frank, I did. The k1600 is still priced about $8-10k more than the RT. Also I am not really into the GS type, if talking about BMW.
The other bike I was looking at was the Triumph Trophy, very similar to the RT, but they have just been out a year or so and they are still a bit buggy and a tad pricier since they are fairly new; one of the issues is a no start and the bike has to be towed to the dealer for a software reset, other issues are handled through a recall, such as head or even engine replacement. The Japanese bikes need a bit too much customization for me, especially in the area of riding position, so when I found that gently used RT with 18k miles I went for it.

Thank you Brian!
Alas we'll miss Cambria (let's blame this on David Taylor ) bu we are up for weekend rides pretty much anytime, especially since my daughters will start college in the fall, most likely out of state.

Sounds like a plan. We have a busy summer, but be sure to let us know when you are up here and vice versa.

I am loving the RT for my commute! First impression was that I was riding a moped as the weight is much less and the COG much lower; also narrower so I can better split lanes in crowded traffic! Really digging the new bike!
I posted ads for the stuff in the garage but the bike is still apart, waiting for brake lines that were supposed to be here today...

Yes and I am thankful you found a buyer so quickly for the Ducati Designs headlight. Saved me $300 bucks! Sounds like you are enjoying the lighter ride.

Since Gilles is a French, elitest snob ... another BMW just seemed to make sense.
