Post Clutch Repair Problem

First ride of spring and the clutch slipped, slave cylinder got me.

Replaced the clutch and got it most of the way together, gas tank is on, no stingray, seat or tupper ware, went to start it and see if everything is working before final assembly.

Hook up the battery and the fuel pump starts with the ignition key OFF. Runs a couple of minutes and blows the 15 amp fuse. Unplug the fuel pump and still see a nice arc when inserting the fuse.

Any ideas on where to look first?

Did try to start it, just cranks over, does not try to start. Yet.

Cool Re: Post Clutch Repair Problem

Double check that you don't have the wrong connector on the Fuel Pump! There is a "hot all the time" connector for an additional Powerlet that will fit right on the Fuel Pump. In fact it can b used for troubleshooting the pump without turning key on!

You want the one with the Green/White and Brown wires not the one with the Red/Yellow and Brown wires.

+1 on checking the wire!
If its not that the pump may be drawing too many amps.

Re: Post Clutch Repair Problem

Hi Guys,

I just finished a clutch replacement job on my 2004 LT. I had it since new and have done 175,000 km. I had no big problems doing the job thanks to the questions and answers from several kind LT friends in this forum.
Handy tips that are not mentioned in the workshop manual!!
Thanks guys, I am back to riding again.

Kind Regards,
