Windshield will not go up

I have an 05 K1200LT .On my trip this weekend I lowered the windshield. We left the bike parked outside and there was some frost on it in the morning. I do not know a lot about the bike but am trying to learn. I can not find the fuse block. I was thinking the a fuse was blown. Rode 400 miles home with the windshield down. Was an experience. Please advise me where I should look for the fuse for the motor that operates the windshield. I do not want to go to the local dealer for this.
Thanks
Dave

Re: Windshield will not go up

I used to have intermittent issues until I got the system lubed. Until that time, I would give the windshield a little nudge and it would then move normally. Maybe you could be so lucky.

Re: Windshield will not go up

Will check that out. I do not hear anything trying to do anything. I just got home from a 700 mile 3 day trip. I love the bike just worry about problems with it.

Re: Windshield will not go up

the 4 pivot pins probably just need lubrication - best choice is to remove them clean and apply a little grease when reassembling - they corrode slightly

you can try lifting the wind shield when operating the switch to see if it will go up with help

Re: Windshield will not go up

Here is the answer to your question on fuses. And the circuit that operates the windshield. Four relays mounted up at the base of the frame.

Re: Windshield will not go up

I use a couple of drops of Super Lube on the pivots.
A dry lube which will not attract dirt.

Re: Windshield will not go up

I believe I'd check the fuses first and then remove the windshield and the instrument panel cover and do the lube that's been suggested.

Remember to get the instrument cover off there are the four T25 screws that attach the cover down in front in the windshield area. There is a T25 screw just inside of each windshield arm and also you have one T25 that is inside of the map light. You'll need an extension and a flashlight to get that one out after you use a small flat blade screwdriver to pop out the map light from the left side.

If the fuse is not the problem, the windshield arms might have stopped in the inappropriate place to where you can't get your T25 to the two screws there and/or be able to remove the instrument panel cover because the arms are in a low position.

So hopefully the two 15amp fuses will be the fix.

Re: Windshield will not go up

I got to look at it this morning and low and behold the fuse was blown. What a relief that was. I will be lubing the pin also as I believe that the fuse was just the beginning of my problem. Thanks For ALL the info you guy's are great. I knew there was a reason I joined.

Re: Windshield will not go up

There you go! I always go for the simplest thing first and then go for the other things. You did good looking for the simplest thing, a blown fuse.

You can just mail me the money for the tip.

Ride Safe.
