Question Could use some radio help?

Good afternoon everyone? Its been a while since I posted. Weather was adequate for a ride this afternoon. While I was out the left side speakers were not working so I only got to listen to the right side of the ball game.

Here is the strange part that I cant find an answer to in the hall of wisdom! When I got home and turned of the bike (run switch first, then the key) put down the kickstand, I put the bike up. Then i kept hearing this noise more like a crackling noise (Static like). I found the noise coming from the left
speakers. Even when the power was off and the radio had already been turned off with key in lock position.

I have an 04 LT and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Quohog

Re: Could use some radio help?

What you have is most likely a failed left amp in the radio. If you want to have it repaired do a search for Baris he is in England and will rebuild the radio. BMW wants more than the bike is worth.

Re: Could use some radio help?

Thanks John.

Could this also be symptomatic of hearing a crakling noise even when the bike is off with key in lock position?

Thanks

Re: Could use some radio help?

If you do have a failed amp. And you do decide to repair the factory unit. Becker in NJ will do an exchange and install a 3.5 jack. But it's $400.00 and the same crappy 20 watt amps with too small of heat sinks. So your problem will happen again. I went with Baris's repair because he uses 45 watt amps with big heat sinks. Yes there is the Sony or Jensen installs. Even one that can wire handlebar controls to a Sony. But I wanted all factory with it's features. All I can say is. If radio reset doesn't work and your amps are fried. Baris is more $$. But my stereo sounds awesome. A way better option to me than Beckers deal. And he will install a 3.5 or RCA or Bluetooth. I highly recommend Baris if factory is your choice.
