Handlebar Reservoirs Seeping

If it's been addressed before - I can't seem to find it. Winter project including flushing clutch fluid and brakes after Spiegler install. Prior to tinkering with it, neither reservoir showed signs of seepage. Now that I've flushed everything BOTH reservoirs on the handlebars are slightly seeping at the seam. The screws are good and snug and fluid level is halfway on the sight. The rubber under the caps appears to be fine and seated correctly. I've tightened the covers about as far I can without stripping or breaking something.

Re: Handlebar Reservoirs Seeping

if the screws have been over tightened at some point the rubber will be deformed and possibly leak

I was wondering if they were over tight also.

Re: Handlebar Reservoirs Seeping

During a flush and re filling the bar reservoirs it is not uncommon for a little bit of seepage. It is usually caused by the rubber diaphragm dipping into the fluid and transfer some fluid out before it seals. Even though it is sealed a little will be at the seam. Just wipe it down and loosen the screws then just make them snug. Very easy to strip trying to stop a non existent leak.

Re: Handlebar Reservoirs Seeping

Thanks guys. Removed both caps today and gave them and the rubber a thorough cleaning - then just snugged them up. After wiping off the residual it seems to be improved. I'll check them again tomorrow. JOHN - good to have you back to posting! Hope the R&R is going well.
