Remove Map Light help

I have my GPS mounted right above the Map Light but I am stringing thepower cord back to the Odments box.

I want to tie into the power from the map light but don't want to experiment into getting it off.

I looked for a thread using the search key as Map Light but found nothing.

Any help out there guys?

Thanks

Bob

Re: Remove Map Light help

Take a close look at the light lens, on the left side you will see a small hole, put a small screw driver or a pick in the hole pry to the left and it will pop out. The light is held in by spring steel clips.

Ohhhhh!

Thanks.

You don't always have the confidence to try something on the fear of screwing it up.

I feel any time I get the chance I should replace old bulbs with the LED equivilant.

Does anyone know what LED bulb this would be?

+1! Totally removed it for the GPS way back when and have not seen the need to re-install since.

I might do that as well. Did you just leave a hole where it was?

The light switch has three positions?

Only one turns it on?
The guide sez A is on, B and his other brother B is off.
I will bet this light is from a car.

OK, this will be my power center far the shelf. GPS, GoPro, and radar detecter,
as well as the dash mount refrigerator and microwave oven.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Re: Remove Map Light help

I turned the map light on a couple of years ago just to see it at night. Seems totally useless to me, since I strap a small map case to the top of the stingray and the map light doesn't light up that area at all.

Re: Remove Map Light help

Heck, I thought I was losing it. Ridden this bike 20K miles and didn't know it had a map light! Turns out it doesn't, thank you very much! All is well with the world again...

Re: Remove Map Light help

michaeleearly,

You mean you just have an open hole up under there?

I have two LT's and one is a '99, First year they made them and it has a map light. I have also a 2007 and it has the same map light in the same place.

What's up with your bike?? You got some custom thing that we all gonna have to have now??

Damn, just when I thought I had it all fixed up like I wanted it.
