Radio question

Does anyone know if a radio out of a 97 1100rt will work as a replacement on an 02 LT? head unit had been removed when I bought the bike. I've seen the Jensen conversion but not something I'd like to tackle. Was also wondering if J&M or anyone else has anything that would plug into the old wiring harness so I could utilize the speakers on the bike.

At least LT-remote controls won't work as they are. Radio I guess is of course universal / works as long as you are able to connect it correctly. Schemas available.

Re: Radio question

Stock wiring harness is designed for both front and rear pairs.

I rarely use my radio, an 00 with cass. I seem to remember that one cannot simply or reliably install radio from one year model into a different model year LT.

Think john provided that info/

I do have late radio installed in to -99LT. No probs. The question of course was of installing one from RT. Measurements of the radio are same but wiring of course needs working on.

Re: Radio question

Throw it out and install a Sony or Panasonic, using the circuit I found, posted elsewhere in this forum, your handlebar controls will work

Re: Radio question

The radio chassis is completely different. So while the electrical connections might work, there is no easy way to mount it. Basically the 1100 radio is an in-dash car radio mounted on it's side. The LT radio is custom built to fit to the LT.
