Engine guard

I have a light under the engine guards how do they turn on? They do not come on with the ignition switch so they do not seem to work. Tested with a test light with no power to the light.
Thank you,
randyg

Re: Engine guard

They are a type of courtesy light. Some call them "landing lights". They come on when you shut the ignition off, and are (I've always assumed) intended to provide some ground lighting while you dismount.

Re: Engine guard

Thanks for reply. They must not work I never noticed them coming on last year when I would shut off the ignition. Never knew they were there until I removed the black guard. Again thank you.

Re: Engine guard

They are controlled by the alarm system and can be programmed to come on or not come on when the ignition is turned off.

Re: Engine guard

They are controlled by the alarm system and have to be programed on. Do a search for "landing lights" one of the threads has instructions for the programing.

Re: Engine guard

Thanks again for the speedy replies. May have to give it a try to get them turned on.
