Exclamation EHCS

I've overhauled mine twice. The first time I cut the seal installing the rod. The rod was pitted from water so I got a new rod and seals and overhauled it again. Now it leaks worse than ever. I must be doing something wrong....

Re: EHCS

As far as I can tell, the seals are facing the right direction. I installed them just like I've installed thousands of seals in automatic transmissions. With the pressure behind the seal I figure there's only one way it can go and hold pressure. That's why I'm puzzled by the leak.........

Re: EHCS

Yes, it's right at the end. At first it just leaked a couple of drops but the last time I used it there was a solid stream under the bike......Any ideas?

Re: EHCS

Sounds like the rod damaged the seal. The cup was facing the piston, correct? i.e. This side faces the piston on the shaft.

Re: EHCS

Yes, the cup faces the piston. I smoothed the edges of the shaft and used Teflon tape to get the rod through. No leaking at first.
