Unhappy Play music from smart phone

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to play music from my smart phone through the factory radio on my 02 LT. There is a 2.5mm male plug in the stingray tray but I couldn't get my phone to play music through the stereo using the plug. Any ideas? Thanks much.

Another option is to use a FM Transmitter -

This attaches to your headphone jack and transmits on a selectable FM station.

How do you get to the AUX mode? I tried all the combinations I could think of but didn't ever see an AUX mode. Thanks much.

There isn't an AUX mode on the '02, I don't think. Search the Forum for DICE player. Works like a charm.

Simply remove the 6-CD Changer, and the dice unit is plug and play.

CAVEAT: I used mine with an iPod, not an iPhone; not sure of results with iPhone. You can get a used iPod on eBay for less than $100.

The Dice unit plays as "CD #1", and audio controls on bike controls everything.

Re: Play music from smart phone

There are a few wired DICE units out there (going by the wayside, because Bluetooth adapters are now the technology).

Here is availability on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Dice-i-BMW-T-S...glink121728-20

You will need to use the plug on the left side of the intercom unit. The one of the right is for of all things a cell phone (yes way back in 2002) according to the manual for my 2002. Then you'll have to have the HS/EXT button set you EXT, which is push button is out. It's been over 2 years since I've played with it as we now use a Scala Rider for our intercom but I seem to remember only being able to get music through the wired intercom headsets. But I could be wrong as the manual says Headset (HS) and External (EXT). If it works the volume is not changed through the speed controlled volume but you'll have to raise and lower it manually according to the manual.

Yes... The faded memories are coming back. There was a plug on the '02s. My'01 didn't have it.
