Re: Backrest

I've got a backrest from Russell Day Long and it works well. The stock backrest has a modest amount of adjustment forward and back. However they worked with me, to build an extra piece to move me a little more forward than the standard stock version. I also have a Rich's Saddle and it is not as comfortable as the Russell but Rich's has a better backrest (but it won't fit a Russell). I use the Russell backrest about 50 percent of the time; often I prefer just to use a Back-A-Line belt for lower back support.

Re: Backrest

My only concern with the Russell backrest is that it could be easily stolen, as there is nothing that locks it to the bike. If I leave the bike out of sight for any length of time, I pull it out and lock it in the saddlebag if I have room. Of course, if you don't have a Russell seat, a stolen backrest won't do you much good - especially one that is color matched to a specific bike….but then again, some thieves are pretty stupid.

Won't it be easier to leave a sign
That reads: "Don't steal this backrest STUPID it's the wrong color and only works with Russell Day Long seat. Neither of which you have h*!!"
If that does not work simply attach a to it.
