Getting over it

I am finally getting over the miss start of my relationship with the bitch. I bought a 2007 LT with 17,000 miles in April after riding Goldwings for 200,000 miles and 30 years. I sold the 09 Wing when we decided to move south, plans fell though and we stayed in NH so I thought I'd try a LT.
Rode the bike for a total of 315 miles with the brake failure light coming on intermittently. brought it to the dealer I bought it from and was told that the ABS module was fried. negotiated with the dealer and they finially fixed it for thier cost of the part. and half the shop rate labor.
I have put 1500 miles on it since then. I had every intention of selling the bitch, but have come to enjoy the ride when she behaves.
I have changed the engine oil, transmission and final drive fluids. everything appears to be as it should. I guess I will keep her. Kind of like dating a redhead, fun to ride when they are not pissing you off.
I wanted to thank everyone on the board for being supportive and let them know that they have the same love of the machine that the GL 1800 riders forum does for theirs.

See you on the road,
Rick

"Kind of like dating a redhead, fun to ride when they are not pissing you off."

Never thought of it that way, but probably accurate.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Re: Getting over it

Yeah man, i kept second guessing myself after i bought my 09, only 2500 miles on it couple of months ago due to all the "problems" some guys had ( I DIDNT HAVE ANY YET). Then i asked myself... what other motorcycle could replace this one?....... Couldn't answer it, the way i see it, im putting away a couple of thousand for when something happens that i can't repair.
Not a single motorcycle gets the looks this one gets, 100% pure unadultered CLASS.

Re: Getting over it

Took a trip to Skyline dr in Va last week with two friends on Harleys. On EVERY stop people either wanted to talk about "Shelly" or they wanted her. One of the Harleys has a beautiful custom paint job but that didn't matter. Harleys are like aholes everyone has one...
BTW it is wise to let the Harleys go first on Skyline so to hopefully scare away the numerous deer.

Re: Getting over it

I plan to do the same thing. I can worry about it or I can ride it. I'll decide whether or not to fix something when I need to. I will say I never got the interest that this LT generates with any of my other bikes. Goldwings, K1000KZ, Ducati cafe racer, and yes a HD XLCH.
I bought a clymers and service kits from beemer boneyard to ease the pain at the dealers.
We will see what happens.

Re: Getting over it

You nailed it. I spent twenty years with a gorgeous redhead, through all the joy and sadness and finally had enough. I then went to a blonde and every body had one so I got rid of her went back to a redhead. Sweetest most exciting ride you would ever want. I now deal with her temperament and expense to keep her purring and all is well. Guys you haven't lived until you ride a redhead.
