Smile Trading Exhaust Systems

Ok peoples I am getting old here and since I have decided to keep my 99 Canyon Red LT "Forever" I am thinking about making a change.

After listening to the wonderful growl emanating from my Remus exhaust system for the last +ten years I think it might be time to go back to stock for a more peaceful high speed cruising experience LOL.

I do have the 4" tubing insert so its quieter then a stock Remus but still makes a good rumble when going thru the gears.

My question is how difficult would it be to find someone who wants to trade there stock exhaust for a Remus exhaust.

And then setup somehow a tech meet to get the work done. I am not setup with lifts or such things and live in the Seattle area and will have to watch some videos to see how much of a job it is to change the exhaust out.

I also have the upgraded computer chip but will be keeping that and I dont think going back to the stock exhaust will have too much of a negative effect.

Maybe someone can chime in here on that?

Thanks

Re: Trading Exhaust Systems

Be sure to have the 4 new crush washer ( not sure if this is the correct term ) for each system and remove them from each pipe before re-installations. A dab of Vaseline or grease helps to hold them in place during positioning. I was able to do this myself but help makes it a lot easier. A little WD 40 or Blaster on each bolt thread ahead of time will also ease the unscrewing. You also have an 02 sensor to remove and replace. A coat hanger eased threading the cable.

Re: Trading Exhaust Systems

Steve do you have the Remus Chip in the Bikes Computer? If so that will effect both bikes performance after the exhaust swap.

Yes I do but I have read on this forum that some people have the chip with the stock exhaust and it seems to work well.

I have asked that question but am not sure what to expect!

Always open for opinions.
