I survived my first little ride

Those who followed along know I bought an LT in March, but didn't ride it, pending a good "going over" with all the info I've learned on this forum. So I had it apart for a month or so, hit all the known problem areas, parts all over the place. I finished it about 2 days before vacation, so a ride had to wait.
Well, my wife and I did a little 1/2 tank ride Saturday. Nothing caught on fire / exploded / screamed for relief or puked. Zero issues. I will say the new Avon Storm, the Hyperpro Springs and the upgraded throttle cables made the bike feel significantly different from my test ride.
While my wife seems in love with the LT, i can say I'm impressed with the handling, brakes and telelever front end. I'm NOT impressed with the front seat . I guess I'll be taking it apart, too... does it ever end? Steve

Re: I survived my first little ride

Steve,

As I see it you have 2 choices . . .

1. Ride the bike more to burn your butt in
2. Go out and buy a new seat

I believe the key to a comfortable seat is - "its all about the bucket" - which the stock LT
seat has none in fact just the opposite!!

Make sure you tried the seat in both positions. I found the higher position was a lot more comfortable for me than the low position.

Re: I survived my first little ride

thanks Tim, i have tried the high position, I felt like it was shoving me into the bars. I'm really more of a sport / touring rider, and like some forward cant and some reach for the bars. My bum isn't set up for the "sit up and beg" seating position ...Steve

Re: I survived my first little ride

You can adjust the bars. It is not much or very far but you can move them more forward by tipping them up a bit.
