Red face Locked Out if K12OOLT

Testing the remote, all worked fine locking/unlocking side and top cases and glove box. HOWEVER, now my glove box is stuck in the "locked" position. I can put my ear to the glove box and "hear" the lock but does not unlock. Key rotates OK in the lock but does not "unlock" Even though the key insert is vertical (unlocked position), the button will not depress so glove box will not open. Local Dealer says take of fairing BUT can't get to screws under locked glove box!! Duh!! I've tried lightly hitting with my fist while depressing button but no go!! Local locksmith will not touch it!! Any suggestions??? Thanks. Spiceman/SOCAL

Re: Locked Out if K12OOLT

Try pushing down on it as you hit the remote to relieve some of the pressure... There are some recent threads on opening stubborn locks you may want to review also if that doesn't work. Good luck!

Good News

I put the key in and turned it side to side and whala opened, this site is amazing!!

Now I took the screw out and they are both 3/4 inches long, dealer error.

I will leave the one out and pick up the proper size Monday.

Thanks for all the help, and my bike is a 2005 KLT

Glen

and : On my 2005 book that info is on page 9 in section 2,

insert key in lock you want to open
turn the key 45 degrees and press the lock barrel with the key in the lock

thanks,
Glen

I was going to tell you to put the key in at the correct position and hit it but jzeiler noted in post #32 - It is just the other way around. If you lock it with the FOB you cannot open it with the key. Not even the 45 degree trick works on this one.

I absolutely know John is correct, but it couldn't hurt to try since it worked for Glen.

Re: Locked Out if K12OOLT

I recently had the same thing happen to me and I found that I had to have the lock on the oddments lid in the locked position in order for the fob to work.
