Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Welcome aboard. The LT is a great long distance runner. Take care of her and she will take care of you. Perform regular maintenance and all should be well. BMW is going to miss having this one in the line-up.

Re: Newby Joining the pool...

Thanks everybody! She just came today (from MN) and I hadn't had a chance to ride yet - had to get back to work. I'm going to have some fun in a few hours though!

I'm sure I'll be asking questions and participating.

LawyerAdam,

Welcome to the club!

Really glad to have you

This is a very good community of LT owners; I was a newbie a week ago and have been very impressed with the level of communications from forum members.

Enjoy your new ride - hope it brings you new smiles

Welcome to the asylum. A lot of experts out here, They sure have helped me over the years. Also take advantage of RTEs when you can. Good way to put faces with names and make new friends.

Re: Newby Joining the pool...

I'm new as well. I bought a new GTL a couple of weeks ago. I have to say I'm loving that motor. However I'm not loving the cost of accessories, or the cost of the 600 mile service I just paid for (but I have a couple of BMW cars, so that didn't come as a total shock to the system).

Still, $300 for a set of highway pegs? Kurykan makes beautiful, complex chrome highway pegs for cruiser for less than half that (too bad they don't fit the GTL engine guards). If someone started a company with reasonably priced accessories for BMW bikes, they could sell a ton of them. I guess manufacturers assume if you can afford a $27,000 bike you have too much money and they feel the need to relieve you of it.

My only other complaint is the BMW software not allowing my existing bluetooth communication devices to work with the multicontroller.

Oh well, I guess it is ultimately worth it, just to experience the power, smoothness and sound of that motor.

Seeing as you are new, I think you can be forgiven but, this is the K1200LT thread and not the K1600GTL thread...Jus sayin!

I did not catch that. Sorry. Obviously I've not spent much time on this site. I'll have to remedy that.
