Wheel bearings

I ordered new wheel bearing for my LT. My question is, why do they use 2 different wheel bearings instead of 2 the same?

Re: Wheel bearings

That is odd. I see #4 is listed as an "angular contact bearing". I presume this means the inner diameter of the race is tapered.

I suspect it's a case of over-engineering.

Re: Wheel bearings

The angular contact bearing is a double row ball type, it is designed to take account of both radial and axial forces, so it is in effect the locating bearing in the arrangement. The other side hase a standard deep groove ball bearing, designed primarily to cope with radial forces. Hope this helps.
