Broken Windshield mounts

On a recent trip to the Maritimes, my bike had the misfortune of falling against the Guard rail. It was parked hastily on the side stand so I could assist a fellow biker who had dropped his bike. The windshield impacted the guardrail on the way down and broke the two top mounts and bent some other stuff. Does anyone know of used parts available to make the repairs or will I have to go OEM.
Any Input would be appreciated.

Re: Broken Windshield mounts

A similar thing happened to me..I thought things were bust but I got the impression that BMW designed the system to pop apart. You might find that by carefully taking the bits apart they will reassemble and all will work again. It did for me...the plastic clip holders are "open" but look as tho they might be broken. Good luck. P.s. I am presuming you mean the electrical lifting brackets

Re: Broken Windshield mounts

I hope it's that simple but I don't think so. I can see broken parts when I look in the slots that the support arms are supposed to come up through. I guess that I'll have to get out the shop manual and figure out how to tear this thing apart. I drove home from Cape Breton with a pool noodle holding the wind shield up.

Re: Broken Windshield mounts

With the exception of the arms holding the windshield, and a part I sent to someone in our community, I might have what you need?

I searched for more than a year to find a replacement arm with no luck. I did find a good price on the entire unit though and bought it for the arms.

Re: Broken Windshield mounts

Thanks for the feedback folks. I have decidid to let my insurance company and the local BMW dealership look after it. I really don't have time to pull it apart now and thought I would leave it in their hands. We'll see how it goes.
