ABS saved me and a Dog.Brakelights stayed on .

I was out riding the LT tonight. I was on a Dark 2 lane blacktop solid double yellow. 2500 feet from turning onto a 5 lane highway. I had the high beams on. (Thank God for Motolights) I'm on the lookout for deer always. But out of the darkness on the rightside of my peripheral vision comes the yellow mass moving pretty quick. My eyes make confirmation. It's a Dog, A yellow lab to be exact. OH SHIT! Before I can even get those words out. He's looks at me, he's about to get brained by my motolight or the forktube. At the last second without a deck of cards thickness between his face and the forktube. He turns his head, squints his eyes as if he knows how dangerously close he is.Does a backstep as I haul the fat assed girl to a smooth panic stop. He sidesteps and runs behind the bike and continues on his way to the other side. I just about Shard myself. But really am more thinking how amazing of a controlled stop it was. And thinking. That dog has no idea how lucky he was. If I'd been on the 1500 Intruder. He would have been scrambled brains.WOW.I Really have come to like ABS. But the strange thing is. I pull the bike in the drive leave it running. I get off. Go unlock the door to disarm the alarm. My brake lights are stuck on. I discovered that no matter how I tried to reset the seemingly stuck switch on the front and rear brakes, the brake lights stayed on.. I think the servo was stuck on. Because after I pulled it in the garage to tear into the problem. Shut it off. I turned ignition back on,The brake lights and servo were fine after several tests.?? Weird. Never did it again.

You might need a new brake relay. It is under the fuel tank inside the black wire box on the right side.

Went for a 250 mile ride today. No problems. But thanks. If it happens again. I'll know where to look.

Something kind of similar with a dog happened to me last week - a big black lab / boxer mix was at the side of a secondary 4 lane road sniffing something in the grass, oblivious to a lot of traffic going by about 50 mph. I was wary he might dart out and sure enough he started out in front of the car in front of me. I lay on MY horn and he damn near jumped out of his skin and pulled back just in time to avoid being struck by the car in front of me. The car didn't even hit the brakes.

In addition to the ABS I also love the horn in this bike!! It's a lot louder than my Chevy truck.

+1 on the horn. Probably the best engineered part of the LT! I was amazed at the wimpy horn on the GTL...
