What GPS unit do I need?

I just purchased a 2006 K1200LT the wiring and mount for a GPS are there but the GPS unit is missing. What unit do I need to find for my existing wiring. There is a flat type plug and also a round plug. Is it for a Nav !!! or a Nav IV? I don't know what unit came with this bike.

Sounds like Nav III since it has the round plug. You can however upgrade to the Nav IV by changing the wiring, there is a factory wire harness that will replace existing one.

Re: What GPS unit do I need?

If it's a flat plug that has a wedge shape like in the photo you dont have to buy an overpriced BMW gps. get a used Garmin 2820 and you are good to go. if you do not have the mount there but only the wedge of plastic above the radio then you need to buy a mount. Again dont use the BMW one that will cost you $200 or more,

http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-StreetP...min+2820+mount is the mount you would need if the mount is missing. IF you have a mount with the side buttons on it, then the 2720 will slide right in and work but the side buttons will not. The only way ot get the side buttons to work is buy the rebranded Garmin 2820 BMW unit, but those got for silly prices used online.

The Garmin 2720 is the same as the 2820 but without Bluetooth, both can be updated to the latest maps and are dirt cheap on the used market now.

Again, IF the flat plug matches the photo It would help a lot if you posted photos of the plugs and what is left of the mount on the bike.
