oil use.

Just on 6k miles into our summer trip and put in a quart of oil this morning. The other LT has barely used any, replaced maybe an 1/8 of a quart. His is an 02, 38000 miles, 1 up pulling a light trailer. Mine an 02; 127000, 2 up , pulling a heavier trailer. Interstate travelling we are averaging 75-80, 5 over depending on speed limits.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Re: oil use.

I think it is a crap shoot on oil consumption. My 05 has done several oil change cycles with no consumption and a few where I have had to add about half a quart and that was back in 08. Does not seem to be mileage related but rather how the bike was ridden during that cycle. Higher RPMs, etc.

I agree. Mine uses oil sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. Have not worried about it enough to really pay attention to riding style to see when it happens. We just got back from a 4800 mile trip and I did add a bit to about 3/4 of the way through. Didn't really need it, but figured if I did it wouldn't have to worry about it for the rest of the trip. And with 127K on your bike would think that it would use some....
