Another alarm question....

I bought a new to me '03 LT 5 months ago. I haven't been using the alarm, because I couldn't figure it out. After reading the many threads on this forum, I recently thought that I had it figured out. I installed a new battery in the FOB this evening, and sure enough I was able to get it activated. My problem now - I can't deactivate it. Can any of you wonderful forum users explain how to actually use the FOB?

The smooth button is the dis arm button the ribbed one is the arm. Now if you have not been using it and put in a new battery you may have to go through several arm/dis-arm cycles to get the rolling code synced back up. I had to do that at least five times after my clutch change to get it working again fully.

Re: Another alarm question....

Thanks!! Just one tap to alarm, and one tap to disarm?

Re: Another alarm question....

Yes and hold the FOB near the top case latch as the alarm is right under that.

Re: Another alarm question....

When you change out the battery in the fob, there is a procedure that needs to be done. Do you have the factory manual for the alarm? As far as being close to the bike when pushing the fob buttons, on my bike at least the fob will activate the alarm or disarm it from 50 feet away.

So will mine until it is swamped by a strong signal. I have one lot I park in and some days it will set/unset from 30 feet away. Other days I have to get up close and personal with the top case to get it to trip. They do a lot of RF testing in the vicinity and the 433 Mhz band that alarm is in is shared with both the Military and a few other organizations, guess who has priority.

Re: Another alarm question....

Mine has never worked more than 10 feet away even with new batteries.
